SRAM saw the opportunity to make a better press fit system where all the best from BB30 and PressFit bottom brackets would be combined into one captivating package. Pressfit 30 will feature an integrated seal, pre-assembled into the cups, to further prolong bearing life. The key difference with Pressfit 30 is how the bearings are fitted into the frame. Bearings are housed in nylon cups which will be pressed into the frames bottom bracket shell. This bottom bracket is designed for 30mm spindle cranksets. Frames will need a 46mm inner-diameter bottom bracket shell to accommodate this system. Running a conventional threaded bottom bracket on your BB30 or PF30 frame doesn't have to be complicated. Trek developed their own BB standard to optimize their frame designs. BB90 has a 90.5mm shell width and 37mm inner diameter and is designed so that the bearings of external cups can hide within the frame. The CeramicSpeed kit comes as two bearings, which are then pressed into the frame. Those two bearings consist of either CeramicSpeed Standard or Coated Bearings. Both feature super smooth, super-round CeramicSpeed balls rotating in hardened-steel races. The Coated version has a metallic coating laid onto the races, making it even smoother and harder, resulting in longer life and lower drag. - The BB90 standard is limited to Trek. This kit makes it possible for 24/22mm cranks from Quarq and SRAM to mate with your Trek. - The Standard Bearings last at least 3 times longer than other bearings. That's a result of hardened-steel races and ceramic balls that are 100% smoother & 15% harder than the ceramic competition. These bearings have a frictional drag of 0.3-0.4 watts per set, which boasts an average 75% drag reduction compared to stock BBs. - The Coated Bearings increase bearing life by 60% and reduce drag by 50% compared to Standard Bearings.
